Genoveva feels lost as a teenager in rural 1980s Bolivia. Her father is a drunk traumatised by the civil war and a cocaine smuggler. Her mother was picked up by an alien from Planet Sadness a long time ago, says Genoveva. She only feels connected to her anorexic friend, her voodoo-expert grandmother and her baby brother. In order to get away, Geno decides to get in touch with an attractive cult leader who offers a conspiracy-like apocalyptic promise of salvation. This novel adaption playfully addresses different clichés underscored by synth sounds on the way to Andromeda.
