78 DANA (78 DAYS)
2024, Serbia
Emilija Gašić
No school, aircraft noise, air-raid alarms, absent fathers; but also first love, friendship and solidarity are what three sisters experience and film with a camcorder. Using captivating home video aesthetics and without graphically depicting violence and destruction, 78 DAYS documents life during the NATO bombing of Serbia in the spring of 1999. It tells the stories of people trying to maintain everyday life during a time of war; it tells the story of a girl, a teenager and a young woman who grow a little older during this time. Watching them do so is extremely touching and entertaining.
