For the documentary film competition, six outstanding international feature-length documentary films are nominated for the City of Innsbruck Prize, which is endowed with 3,000 euros.
In their own unique way, the documentary films nominated this year show the realities of life from all over the world in impressive images.
Sascha Lara Bleuler studied English, film and French literature at the University of Zurich. She has curated film programmes for cinemas in Zurich, written film reviews for Neue Zürcher Zeitung, among others, and was part of the selection committees of festivals such as Kurzfilmtage Winterthur, Visions du Réel in Nyon, Docaviv in Tel Aviv and the Semaine de la Critique at Locarno Film Festival. Since 2015 Bleuler has been Artistic Director for the Human Rights Film Festival Zurich.
Theo Montoya is a Colombian filmmaker and founder of Desvío Visual. His short film SON OF SODOM premiered at the 2020 Cannes Film Festival and won multiple awards. His debut feature ANHELL69 premiered at Venice Critics’ Week 2022, received global acclaim and won awards such as the main prize at Dok Leipzig and the Documentary Award at IFFI #32. For his new film in development, FALSO POSITIVO, he was selected for the 2024 Cinéfondation residency programme and is supported by the Hubert Bals Fund.
Mara Prohaska Marković is an art historian, curator and producer based in Belgrade, Serbia. She has worked in the culture and audio-visual industries for 20 years. Since 2020 she has served as Director of the Beldocs International Documentary Film Festival, having been a part of the festival team since 2009. She is a member of the International Association of Art Critics, Documentary Association of Europe, and an alumna of the Audiovisual Women 2023 female leadership programme at the Erich Pommer Institute.
