A young man sells watches for his living and meets a young woman who is leaving for Paris. In an effort to bridge the miles between them, he runs around setting all the watches and clocks in Taipei to Paris time. Meanwhile, the young woman confronts events that mysteriously seem to be connected with the watch-seller far away.
At the age of five, she takes her father to the streets where he is a beggar. At thirteen she keeps a secret. At sixteen she is rebellious, steals ID cards and slips into the roles of others…. Moving between flashforwards and flashbacks, parallel montage and sparingly used dialogues, director Vivian Chang aims straight at the heart.
