Sira is a collection of 5 million verses telling the stories of the nation of the half moon. 80-year-old Sayyed es-Dawwy is the last of the living poets of the greatest of all Arabic epics. For generations the verses have been told mouth to mouth and that is why he wants to pass them on to his grandson Ramadan. But while Sayyed wants Ramadan to learn them in the traditional way, the young man is only interested in contemporary interpretations. The film accompanies them on their concert tour through Egypt and shows the world between tradition and modernity.
