Following the Napoleonic war, Europe is plagued by poverty. The same goes for Tyrol. Since slavery has been abolished in Brazil, the country needs labourers to cultivate the land and Brazil is praised as a place where “the treats grow on trees”. Many Tyroleans and Trentino folks follow the myth and emigrate to Brazil between 1858 and 1875. But there they only discover a deep and dark jungle. This film visits the 5 th and 6 th generations of those Tyroleans’ descendants in Brazil.
