Chala is a streetwise boy who makes life difficult for his teacher Carmela. Carmela has been committed to teaching since the first days of the Cuban Revolution. When Chala’s behaviour (conducta) results in him being sent to an approved school, Carmela tries everything in her power to show that the problem is not the child, but the system. Ernesto Daranas penetrates the heart of the Revolution’s achievements and connects social criticism with ambitious narrative cinema.
