Nearby the Mexican border conflicts arise between old-established Mexican farmers and greedy Americans, who try to get more and more land. The great land owner, John B. Ferguson (Mark Damon), eventually loses his patience and develops an unscrupulous plan of luring the Mexicans into a trap. With the offer of a truce as a bait, he leads them to an old Indian temple, where they are already awaited by his buddies with a fusillade of bullets. Only the six-year-old Requiescant (Lou Castell) survives the massacre and is raised by the travelling priest, Don Juan (Pier Paolo Pasolini).
