A SONG FOR BEKO takes place on the national border between Armenia and Turkey and is the first motion picture shot in Kurdish. 1988 – Beko ’ s brother Cemal is being chased by the Turkish army for being a deserter. As they are unable to find him in his hometown, they abduct Beko instead. Yet Beko manages to escape across the Euphrates to Southwest Kurdistan, where he joins a group of fugitives who were able to flee Saddam Husseins army so far. While he keeps on hoping to receive a message from his lost brother, he takes care of the traumatized orphans in the camp.
