FUGHE E APPRODI

The history of the Aeolian Islands is a history of arriving and leaving, it is a history of escape and retreat. For some the islands which are UNESCO world heritage are like jail, for others they are mystical places of desire. Film makers were fascinated by them since the beginning of the age of cinema. Giovanna Taviani tells the story of the islands as film history. She tells of Roberto Rossellini and Ingrid Bergman, of Michelangelo Antonioni and Monica Vitti, of Nanni Morett, Massimo Troisi and the Taviani Brothers. In short: she bows to the Italian cinema and its favorite coast.
