About Us

With the idea of showing and discussing movies from all over the word in Austria, the Otto Preminger-Institut (OPI, Association for the support of audiovisual Media) founded a Filmfestival in Innsbruck, which has today importance across the whole world.

Founded 1992 as “America Film Festival“ (Festival Founders: Helmut Groschup, Glen Switkes, Manfred Vosz), then re-named 1996 as “CineVision“ and 1999 opened the first time under the name “International Film Festival Innsbruck“ (IFFI) which it has till today. The IFFI´s special programming makes it unique in the german speaking language area. The IFFI opens the Screen for the lesser known places of the world. We show around 65 feature-length films and short-films (Features and Documentaries) from Latin America, Africa, Central Asia and Eastern Europe. The IFFI is next to the Viennale, Diagonale and Crossing Europe the most important cinematic event in Austria and the only one in West Austria. read more
